Hummingbirds

Today I am sitting out on my front porch with the laptop enjoying the flight of the hummingbirds. They are such aggressive little creatures towards each other and very territorial. It amazes me how busy they are. I would like to put a video up with them, but I haven't learned the proper way to post a video yet. Any way, they sure are amazing little creatures.

Good Things Utah

Well, it did not rain yesterday, so I hobbled out and watered them this morning. They were very dry. I sure hope my cucumbers pull out of it. I picked four Anaheim peppers, about 7 haljapenos, and 10 rather small bell peppers. They must have been dwarf bell peppers. (Just kidding, don't think that is real) It's a good start for the salsa that I would like to make. I will cut them up and freeze them until I have enough ingredients to make my salsa.

I am very excited! Tomorrow Michele and I are going to be in the audience for Good Things Utah. I have always wanted to go see their live show. It will be so fun. I love Michele! She is such a sweetheart. She has so much love for everyone. Today she brought her green beans over so we could use two pressure cookers and get her beans cooked. It was nice to have some company since I am still very limited as to what I can do. My feet are still swelling so I need to stay down as much as I can.

I did go for a job interview today. It would be part time as a bank teller. I would really like the job. I think the hours will be great, 8am to 1pm with a couple Saturdays a month. Which will leave my afternoons free to do other things I need to do and help with the bills and give me a little spending money. My schedule would probably rotate some, but that will be okay. I really hope for the best to get the job. I felt very good about the interview, but I also know there was someone else interviewing today and several more tomorrow. She said she would know by Monday. My interviewer did make the comment that one of the other tellers noticed me and was excited that it was a more mature person. The teller preferred having someone older versus the much younger people they had been hiring. Apparently this has also caused them high turnover. This is the 3rd time in a month they are hiring for this position, which gives me hope that I will have a good chance at it. Plus, I have a sales background. They want their employees to encourage people to add other banking services to what they are already doing. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to do that type of thing, but there are bonuses if you do well at it.

Rain, please let it pour

I was going to go out and water my bucket garden tonight, but I see that it is very cloudy outside. The news said that it rained really hard down south of us. It would be great if we could get some rain, then I wouldn't need to hobble out and take care of the task myself.

Spaghetti sounds good for dinner, so I have it cooking on the stove. I'm sure Larry will appreciate having dinner ready when he gets home. I know I would like that.

I had a little visitor today. My daughter, Sidney came by with Reacher for a little visit. He sure is gr owning fast and is very entertaining. It is amazing how fast children grow. My grand-daughter Jade will turn 5 in Sept. Her birth was an amazing experience and it was almost 5 years ago. Wow. Time really does fly.

Humiliaton Day

Today I will call......Humiliation Day! I went to the foot doctor as planned. He said everything is looking great and to come back next week and he will take the stitches out. Rejoice!!! I am healing well. After my appointment I went to visit my 73 year old father and tell him the good news. My sweet dad walks with a cane and if we go to the store he will ride in one of those carts for people that have a hard time walking. (I used one yesterday, I will admit...but I had a good reason.) Well...dad said we needed to go run some errands and he would drive. (I don't think so!!!) I politely let him know I was fine to drive. (Love his handicapped license plate by the way.) Any way, long story short we went to Target. I let him out at the curb and I went and parked the car in the handicapped. I hobbled into the store to where he was standing. Ugh. No riding carts available, so....he puts his cane in a cart and off he goes. For the first time since I was little, my dad was able to out run me. I could not keep up with the old guy. He's 73 and I am only 51. Surely with two bad feet I could keep up with him. No, I couldn't. The killer was.... when we were all done and back in the car he turned to me and said,"I told you to stay in the car, that you couldn't keep up with me!" Man, do I love my dad!!!

Gray Hair

I wanted to get my hair cut down to the gray. Only thing is....my hair is not totally gray (yet). This surprised me. Oh well, I am tired of dying it all the time. I did get it cut really short though. I saw a lady on TV this morning with beautiful gray hair and want mine to look like hers, but it can't becuase it is not all gray. To bad for me. I must be really bored if this is all I can figure out to do.
I do have a doctor's appointment for my feet tomorrow. That is something exciting to do. At least I can see how much my feet are healing.

After.

New do for Sue....Uh Sheryl. Before................

Bucket garden

Fresh picked tomatoes from our bucket garden.

Cucumber plants. The whole garden needs a good watering.

Anaheim and hot peppers for salsa.

The Bell Pepper plants are doing fairly well.

The sweet basil is doing fabulous. I need to pick and dry some.

Beans and pumpkin are crowning on the ground.

I will be planting more strawberry plants next year to get a better yield.

The tomatoes are doing well for just starting out.

So sad that I did not get the receptionist job. Oh well. I'm sure something else will come along. If anyone needs a hard worker that is motivated and organized, please let me know. I feel like it is already nap time and it is only 9:00am. What's up with that. I think I will go out and look at my bucket garden. Since I have been laid up all week, I'm not sure what kind of shape it's in. I know Larry said he went out and watered it yesterday. I need to get some more miracle grow for them. It has been several weeks since they have had a good dose of plant food.

Curiosity. I had to see what they looked like. Hope they look much prettier when they are all healed up. Now I know why they are so uncomfortable.

Pioneer Day at Grandpa Fowler's Cabin 2009

Grandpa Larry giving Reacher a tender kiss.

Grandpa Larry enjoying a boat ride while nieces' Heidi and Amy do all the work. He just needs a fishing pole to troll for fish.

We love seeing Grandpa Dee enjoying watching his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids enjoy time together as a family. We are so grateful that he built the cabin for all of us to enjoy. He created such an awesome masterpiece. Thanks Dee!

Reacher will soon be running around like all the other kids. He is such a good natured little guy.

Grandpa and Reacher enjoying the scenery.

Seann is looking for the perfect rock to throw into the lake.

Lots of hugs and kisses are important in this family!

Mr. Curious Seann checking things out.

Reacher resting on Grandpa Larry's chest.

Seann and Grandma took a self portrait while riding in the train.

Jade riding in grandpa's train up at the cabin. Grandpa made a train to pull behind his 4 wheeler. The kids had a great time riding in it's brightly colored train cars.

2nd Interview

I had a second job interview yesterday. Actually it was test taking. I was really excited about the 2nd meeting except that I had to do some testing. I was on pain medication due to my feet which made it very hard to focus. I am so sad because I don't feel I did very well on the test. My brain seemed to be pretty fuzzy. I really want to work for this company and feel I would be a great employee for them as well as I think I would enjoy the job, plus it is only about 10 mins. from home. I hope I did well enough that my interviewer will offer me the job. I would really like to work for this particular company.

Tuesday, I will be visiting my foot doctor. I think they are healing well, but I hate it when the stitches pull. That is rather uncomfortable. The discomfort keeps me down which I guess is good because it will give my feet a chance to heal. I am a little bored laying around all the time but at least it's not putting pressure on my feet.

Brandon is doing well in school, studying hard and excelling. I'm so proud of him and his accomplishments. He has about 13 more weeks then he will go from Texas to Washington to continue his nursing education. Brandon enjoys the army and likes the structure that he has. He says it keeps him much more focused. Keep up the good work Brandon and we look forward to seeing you in December.

I'm really sad that my memory card for my camera will not fit into this computer. I have to take it up stairs and put it on a zip stick in order to get it to this computer. Lot's of work. Would like to have it be a little easier. Maybe I will have to get a card reader to save me some time. I want to put videos of my grand kids on here. Lots of cute pics of my little munchkins.

Foot Surgery

I had surgery on both of my feet yesterday and they felt fine all day yesterday. Today...they are extremely painful. It's very hard to get around. Monday after I had been home for a few hours, I got a phone call from someone wanting me to come in for a job interview today. I told her I would love to come in for the interview, I did explain that I had foot surgery, so she tried to talk me into not coming in. I insisted that I get an interview time. I hope I made a good impression on her. Hopefully she will get back to me for a second interview. She said if I made it to the second round, I would need to take a drug test. She laughed and said I would not pass because of the pain medications. She said I would have to get proof of the medication I am on. She knew it would show up positive. We both laughed. I would really like a return interview. She needs to fill the position fast and had 70 applicants. I asked her why she picked mine as one of the 20 she would be interviewing. She said she didn't really know other than I live close by. I think it would be a good position for me, and hope I get the job.
